Pitstop bot
A small, non-commercial hobby project that reads public motorsport schedules. If you run a site it visits, this page explains what it does and how to make it stop.
What this is
Pitstop is a hobby, non-commercial motorsport schedule site for US fans. Pitstop is a working name. It makes calendars of when race weekends and their sessions happen. There are no ads, no accounts and no sales.
The bot identifies itself with this User-Agent:
Pitstop/<version> (+https://pitstop-racing.pages.dev/bot) bot
What it reads
- Only public schedule facts: dates, times, venues and session names.
- Never results or standings. Never images, logos or article text.
How it behaves
- It reads and obeys
robots.txt, includingCrawl-delay. You can opt out by disallowing the user-agent tokenPitstop. - It makes one request at a time per host, at a low rate.
- It visits large hosts at most daily and small hosts at most weekly, using conditional requests so unchanged pages cost almost nothing.
- On a 429 or 503 it waits as long as the host asks, then backs off further.
- On a 403 or a bot challenge it stops and flags the host. It never tries to get around a block.
- It stops when you ask.
Ask us to stop, or get in touch
Tell us which site (the host name) you represent and that you want the bot to stop. We will turn it off for that host, no explanation needed. This is a hobby project, so reading your message can take a few days. Leave a way to reach you if you want a reply, such as an email address or a link. It is optional.
We keep your message for 90 days and store nothing else about you, not your IP address. The only thing this page loads from elsewhere is Cloudflare's free Turnstile spam check, from Cloudflare itself. We set no cookies. Cloudflare hosts this page and sees visits as any web host does.
